This is the second book by Jean Elmiger, a Swiss homeopathic medical doctor. Dr. Elmiger has developed a method of homeopathic treatment which seeks to identify and address specific stresses in a patient's life that have destabilized health and led to the evolution of chronic disease, a topic that as a naturopathic doctor is close to my heart.
Dr. Elmiger's method centers on the use of isotherapy, homeopathic preparations of the actual substance that caused an illness in the first place. For example, the use of homeopathically prepared Epstein Barr Virus for a person who has never fully recovered from an EBV infection.
His First book "Rediscovering Real Medicine" was heavy on theory and light on the details of his approach. While interesting it was a frustrating read for me as a practitioner interested in learning the details of his method. This book is a series of case studies of autoimmune conditions he has treated successfully and gives much more detail, although it is still a little vague on certain elements. If you believe him, some of his results are remarkable and suggest that autoimmune diseases can actually be cured.
The frustration for a patient being exposed to this hopeful therapy will be the discovery that there are very few practitioners and perhaps none outside of Europe.
For a practitioner somewhat familiar with homeopathy and isotherapy this book, in combination with "Rediscovering Real Medicine" offers a pretty good, although not exhaustive, introduction to his method. While I have been familiar with the use of isotherapy and seen impressive results with it at times, Dr. Elmiger's method is more elegant and thoroughly developed than any other approach to the use of isotherapy that I have seen. Another very interesting book on the subject that focuses on the treatment of autism is "Autism Beyond Despair" by the late author Tinus Smits (also available on ).
In Rediscovering Real Medicine the author describes how he became a whole doctor after his medical training left him only a half doctor.
After studying Chinese Medicine for three years and various other things, he was introduced to Homeopathy by Dr Senn. After some time he began to understand the flaws in Classical Homeopathy, which was in part helped by his understanding of Chinese Medicine and the use of an electrodermal technique originally developed by Dr. Voll. The result was his own original Sequential Homeopathy. In this new book the author outlines in detail some of his cases. The author is one of the truly great pioneers of medicine and I'm sure Dr. Hahnemann, the father of homeopathy and a great genius himself, would be delighted. Every doctor. and homeopath should read this book after reading the Authors first book. This wonderful man really does point the way forward for medicine and homeopathy. You must read it. It's not optional. If you do not acquaint yourself with his work, you will miss something truly wonderful and you may never become a whole doctor.
Dr. Elmiger has written several really GREAT books, and this is another one. This book will be an easier read for you if you are either a homeopath OR VERY familiar with homeopathics and how they truly work. But, you have a passion for homeopathics this book, along with Rediscovering Real Medicine are the books for you. Read them slowly (start with Rediscovering)and digest it that way. Even if you are an experienced homeopath, you will find yourself being totally amazed!!
